Manfrede Family

This is one of my favorite photo shoots that I have done so I thought I would blog about it of course.  This family moved in next door over the summer.  Aaron, the Mom of the family, (name spelled the mans way) came over and saw my pictures on the wall.  She asked who took those pictures and was a bit surprised/happy that is was me.  I told her I would love to take pictures of her family as practice and she was thrilled.  She had never had candid outdoor pictures taken before only in the mall, studio type pictures.  So she started looking at Pinterest (as I asked her too) for ideas of what she was looking for and inspiration.  She also has a great creative imagination and loved dreaming of ideas.
The exciting part for me was to have a family with older kids that I could direct a bit and who could handle a potentially long shoot.  I had really wanted to explore my friends farm for more location ideas and they were the perfect family for this task.  We spent over an hour exploring the farm and taking pictures.
So I have to tell you a bit of their story.  They were high school sweet hearts.  Things outside of their control split them apart and they moved on with their lives.  Aaron got married and had 2 kids.  This marriage ended up being pretty unhealthy so they divorced.  Years down the road Brett and Aaron reconnected and got married.  Brett is the step Dad but has taken the role on wholeheartedly.  Brett and Krista have grown very close and we wanted to capture that relationship.  So I asked Brett to bring something to give her.  He brought her a flower.
As they walk off to the location I chose for them to give the gift.  I couldn't resist taking a picture as they naturally grabbed each others hand.
Placing the flower in her hair.
 Hugs

Aaron loves the pictures that are all in black and white with one color remaining.  I don't have access to that editing quite yet so I faded the saturation and the pink is the last to really stand out.

I have seen many shots of the kids in focus in the front and the parents blurry in the back so I thought I would give it a try.
They are fun and quirky family so I wanted to try to capture that.   I said throw them over your shoulder and haul them off.  So they did.
 A Mom and her babies.
My absolute favorite.  It is so amazing to meet a couple who are soul mates and even more amazing to capture it in a picture.
They were being all lovie and sweet so I said "grab his butt."  They were both happy to oblige.
This necklace Brett made for Aaron.  They wanted a picture of the necklace in focus and the rest a bit blurry.  I am very happy with how this turned out.  It's just stunning to me.
Poor Aaron is having a hard time figuring out which ones to print.  I don't blame her.  I am in love with all of them and the ones I posted here are not even half of the good ones.
I played around with a bunch of different editing styles.  I really need to find "my" style and stick with it.  But for now I play and learn.
Thank you Manfrede family!
